Whenever you use the Internet your computer automatically stores information about what websites you have visited and will save copies of the web pages you visit to your hard drive (which is called caching). This is so that when you come to surf the net again you will easily be able to find sites you have visited recently (as they will be in your history list) and the pages will load quicker (as they are saved to your hard drive or 'cached').
